A 1.5-hour group surf lesson includes the use of a warm wetsuit, and surfboard and guarantees 100% ‘stoke’. No previous experience is required as we guide you through the surfing basics using our unique ‘Stoked’ teaching techniques. This service is self-drive.

If you have previous surf experience and want to brush up on your skills, please let us know upon booking so we can advise your coach and group you accordingly if possible.

If you are ‘stoked’ after an ‘Experience the Stoke’ lesson and want to upgrade to the ‘Uber-Stoked’ package, simply pay the price difference and we will count your first surf lesson as lesson 1 of 4.

Our headquarters are located in Camps Bay so we have easy accessibility to both coastlines of the Peninsula. Surf lessons take place at the most suitable beach depending on the conditions on the day of your booking. We check the surf forecast from several reliable sources and combine this information with our local knowledge to decide where we will coach each day. We consider factors such as wind, tides, swell direction, and ocean temperatures before making our decision to provide the safest and most enjoyable experience to our surfing students.

Where We will either operate the surf lesson at Muizenberg OR Big Bay beach depending on the conditions forecast for the day of your booking. THE SURF LESSON LOCATION WILL BE CONFIRMED 24 HOURS BEFORE THE LESSON - PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL THE DAY PRIOR TO YOUR BOOKING. If for some reason you do not receive a confirmation of the location 24 hours before the lesson - please check your spam folder for the email.

Weather Please note that we base our decision on whether to operate according to wind, tide, and swell charts. We typically DO NOT cancel because of rain. You're going to get wet anyway. Besides it's the most fun you can have outdoors in the rain!

What to Wear Swimsuit and apply sunscreen prior to the lesson.

Things to BringSwimsuit/boardshorts, towel, sunscreen (waterproof or zinc), warm sweater, bottle of water, any emergency medication (Epipen, etc). We advise that you leave all your valuables at home/accommodation. You may leave your car keys/belongings locked in our vehicle during the lesson but please note we can NOT be held liable for any losses/damages.

Guests or Spectators Guests can watch from the beach.

Surf lessons are 1.5-hours long and include the use of:
*4:3 mm wetsuit, suitable surfboard, leash, wax

ExclusionsTransport to and from the beach. You will need to get yourselves there. Please note that if you are considering taking a taxi from the city area, the transport option we offer is more cost effective if there are 3 or less of you traveling together.

Notes

We use high-quality 4:3mm wetsuits to keep you warm throughout the year in the Cape Town waters. Wetsuits are well maintained-washed and rinsed after each use. We use beginner-specific soft boards for those who have never touched a surfboard or only surfed a handful of times. These boards are easy to catch waves with and make standing easier as they are stable. If you have a bit more surfing experience and want to use a regular epoxy/fiberglass board, kindly let us know at the time of booking.

For the self-drive option, we will advise (via email) the beach we will be operating the lesson on at least the day prior to your booking. If for some reason you do not receive a confirmation the day prior to your booking – please check your spam folder

Service Terms and Conditions

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Stoked Surf strives to ensure that you have the most enjoyable surf/SUP experience. Due to the nature of surfing being dependent on ocean and wind conditions, we may occasionally make changes to improve your surfing experience. Such changes may include altering the meeting or pick-up times, the locations we surf at, the itinerary, the route, accommodation or transportation arrangements. Stoked Surf will always inform you of such changes. Stoked Surf reserves the right to cancel or postpone any experience due to gigantic waves or gale-force winds. Please ensure you read our cancellation and refund policy below when booking with us:

CANCELLATION POLICY:

SURF AND STAY PACKAGES & MULTI-DAY TRIPS:
100% cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled 0 – 7 days prior to booking date
50 % cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled 8 – 14 days prior to booking date
25% cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled more than 14 days prior to booking date
0% cancellation fee applies, for any reservation cancelled more than 30 days prior to booking date.

SURF LESSONS (INCL KIDS HOLIDAY CAMPS & KIDS WEEKLY SURF CLUB LESSONS), SURF GUIDING, DAY TRIPS, AND STAND-UP PADDLEBOARDING EXPERIENCES:
100% cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled 0 – 24 hours prior to booking date
50 % cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled 24-48 hours prior to booking date
25% cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled more than 48-72 hours prior to booking date
0% cancellation fee applies, for any booking cancelled more than 72 hours prior to booking date.

COVID-19 CANCELLATION POLICY:
Our standard cancellation policy applies for any cancellation COVID-19-related. In the event of a National Lockdown in South Africa which prevents us from rendering our service (eg beach closures), and Stoked Surf needs to cancel, our refund policy listed below applies.

CANCELLATION POLICY DUE TO INJURY/ILLNESS:
Our standard cancellation policy applies, including if you are injured during your booking with us.

We advise that you have travel and medical insurance to cover such possibilities including participating in adventure activities.

REFUND POLICY:

IF YOU, THE CLIENT, CANCELS:

A 10% admin fee will be subtracted from the total refundable amount. The admin fee will be charged in addition to the cancellation fee (see cancellation policy above) to cover transaction and administration costs to process this booking.

IF STOKED SURF CANCELS:

Surfing is a weather-dependent activity. We do not cancel in the event of moderate wind and rain. We will however cancel in the event of galeforce winds or extreme swells. In this instance, you will be offered an alternative date to reschedule your booking.

If you are unable to reschedule your booking, we will offer you two options:
1) a voucher to the same value paid valid for 1 year from the date of issue
2) a refund of 95% of the amount paid. A 5% fee is retained for all credit card/instant EFT payments to cover the costs of the transaction fees incurred to process this refund. The refund will be processed in the ZAR amount and therefore is subject to exchange rate fluctuations.

Stoked Surf shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, additional cost, accident, delay, irregularity, or illness (including COVID-19) that may be occasioned by any error or default, act or omission by the client in carrying out the arrangements of the booking, or otherwise in connection therewith.
